North Carolina Reviews

Asheville – Taps RV Park (October 2015)

Check-In: We pulled in and stopped on the right at the check-in cabin. The owner was outside enjoying the weather before it turned cold that night. I was in and out within just a few minutes. There is no side parking spot for check-in, but we didn’t have any problems because nobody was coming in or out while we checked in. Check-in was at noon and check out is 11am.

RV Spots: 23 pull through sites and 24 back ins. The sites are a bit tight, but even as fairly new RVers, we were able to back in our 36 footer with ease. I recommend reserving one of the back-ins along the river. We were there during the fall, and even then it was slightly harder to see the river than I thought based on the internet pictures. The river was much lower than I anticipated, but we didn’t plan on fishing or swimming. We really enjoyed seeing the horses on the far side of the river. A lot of the RV parks in this area have some negative reviews regarding being right next to the train tracks with trains coming through at all hours of the night. I looked long and hard at all the reviews and maps, and this park seemed farther away than most in-town RV parks and had less reviews regarding this issue. After staying here I can say that I think the only reason they don’t have more reviews discussing the noisy trains is because a lot of the people are full timers, and thus used to the trains. We were woken up about 3 times each night by the trains. Some were quieter and we hardly heard them, while others literally vibrated our RV. Needless to say, we were worn out after being there for a few nights! If I did this trip again, I would probably stay farther outside of town to gain a peaceful nights sleep.

WiFi: We never had any problem with WiFi during our trip.

Amenities: There isn’t really any. There are 2 single bathrooms for showering, but we didn’t need to use them. You are right on the main drag, so you can easily walk to the gas station, fast food, etc.

Kids/Pets: There isn’t really anything for kids or pets. There some grass for pets, and we weren’t there long enough to miss any children amenities. We did a few laps around the park for exercise.

Staff: The owner was great to work with. I had to change our travel dates a few days before, and he accommodated. He also moved a few people around for us on both occasions to have the river front site that I requested.

Local Area: We stayed here for one reason and that was the Biltmore Estate. It was a quick trip from the campground to the Estate. We also hit up downtown Asheville for dinner one night.

Reason/Rating: Somewhere to park at night    3.5/10
