Van Conversion: Cabinets
What do you think is more important in a campervan…cabinets for storage or a bench to sit down on? What if you can have both? Well that is what we are trying to go towards. In this episode we install our cabinets because we need them installed before we install the remaining parts of the floor. We went with pre-made unfinished cabinets from Lowes because we don’t have the time or expertise to make our own. We were debating on doing one side cabinets and the other a bench, but we opted to utilize our storage and decided on both sides cabinets. We painted them and cut them to shape around the wheel wells. We were very happy with how they turned out! Thanks for watching.
Van Conversion: Sub Floor
Steps…that’s how you get to the end of a finish line. In this step we tackled the installation of the plywood sub-floor. This project was rather uneventful, but required close attention to the cutting. We probably did way more work than was needed with all the stencils, but we’d rather do that than buy tons of extra plywood to redo any mistakes. We purchased 3 sheets and the all worked out just fine, didn’t even have to knock on wood! 😉 We are sooooo happy to be done with this part of the floor, it’s so nice to be able to walk around on it now! We hope you enjoy this video!
Van Conversion: Floor Insulation
We never thought it would take this long to insulate a floor, but we’d rather take the time now and have it last much longer and be as good as it can be! This insulation process was time consuming and educational! We hope you enjoy the video and hopefully we can be of some insight for those of you who are debating the van conversion process. It feels good to be done with the seats and floor insulation and moving on to the next item on our to-do list! Thanks for those who hung in there awaiting our newest van build videos, we appreciate your patience as we took some time to say goodbye to some family and friends! Back to the van build we go!
Our First Airbnb Test Run
We have talked about using Airbnb on some of our various European travels because the concept seems so neat. One of the reasons we have the van is to save costs and time on finding hotels. We plan to use the van for most of our travels, but realize sometimes it would be wonderful to experience the more unique places Europe has to offer. I thoroughly enjoy getting the one on one communication with the owners and feel that VRBO (Vacation Rental by Owner) has become more commercialized. I’m hoping that isn’t the case for Airbnb. We actually learned that the owner of this particular condo is a fellow RV traveler! You can’t get that personalized communication just anywhere! Since we’ve never used Airbnb, we figured what better way to learn about it than try it out here in the states before heading to Europe! We found a wonderful condo on the bay near where we currently are located and stayed for a few days. We hope you enjoy this video, and would love to hear any recommendations you have for our European Airbnb travels!
If You Had 5 Years…
Someone asked our group of moms tonight, “If you had five healthy years to live, what would you do?” I was slightly surprised by the answers.
Van Conversion: Seat Install
What a way to start off our van conversion, by drilling into the floor of our van! :O Talk about a scary way to begin! Needless to say, we stared for hours, we measured for hours, we talked for hours, we drilled and we conquered! This was our first real task for the van conversion, and we quickly learned it was way more complicated that we anticipated. However, live and learn and we’re really happy with how it turned out! We love being able to move the seats forwards and backwards to give us more space inside the van. Â We hope you enjoy these videos and subscribe to our YouTube Channel for our most recent videos!
