Ever since my health scare, we’ve been big on knowing what we’re putting into our bodies. We started a garden a few months ago (mind you I couldn’t even keep a plant alive prior to this adventure), eating more organic items, and have almost completely stopped eating out. When we’re on the road, we like to take in what our current area has to offer as far as food is concerned, so we eat out occasionally then, but most of our meals are still homemade from the RV.
On one of our field trips last year, we learned to make butter in a butter churn. After tasting the homemade butter and realizing how regular butter has a greasy aftertaste that I never noticed until that day, I had talked myself into getting a butter churn! Until…we learned that you can actually make it in a KitchenAid! :O I know, I was as shocked as you are! Wait for the best part, it only takes about 10, maybe 15 minutes! So, we’ve been making our own butter for a few months now and love it! If I have plenty of time, I’ll use an entire pint and freeze some of the butter and put the rest in the fridge. The recipe I have says that you can actually store it at room temperature, but I have yet to try that. If you have left it out, I’d love to hear how it keeps, so please leave us a comment!
Here’s a YouTube video I found with step by step instructions! Enjoy!
